Am spending 2 weeks in Melbourne at the end of the month. Recommendations for experiences and activities not based around shopping?! Beaches, walks, galleries, food etc ❤️ - Moana

A cool area to walk around and spend all day at are Fitzroy/Brunswick, they have so many great cafes and art and thrift stores! One of the better non-tourist beaches would be half moon bay although it could be a trek to get to without a car/uber. Otherwise Elwood/Brighton beach is nice. National Gallery of Victoria is our main gallery and has great exhibitions, even the free ones are good. For restaurants and events check out Broadsheet blog

NGV is one of my fav galleries in the world. The Ian Potter Centre also has some cool stuff at the moment. There are heaps more galleries in Fitzroy you’ll stumble across. If you want a good hike 1000 steps in the Dandenong ranges is beautiful! Or do a day trip along the great ocean road/ there are plenty of hikes there and also the ****best beaches in Victoria! Loren and Wye River are my favs. There are heaps of great restaurants and cafes in Melbourne. A few of my favourites are; Mr Miyagi (chapel st), chin chin (city), st Ali (south melbourne), auction rooms (north melbourne), veggie bar (Fitzroy), sister of soul (st kilda), A25 (city), baby pizza (Richmond) - there are sooo many more! Hope this helps!

Melbourne is annoying sometimes with the whole ‘we don’t take bookings’ business so be prepared to wait a while at the popular brunch spots.
